President of the TRUSU Taxation Club

As President of the TRUSU Taxation Club, I exhibited my ability to lead and manage teams while achieving tangible outcomes for the student body. I arranged and ran tax clinics that helped over 1,000 students with their Canadian income tax returns, ensuring they gained the refunds and benefits they deserve. To support these clinics, I organized and led workshops that trained over 100 volunteers in the preparation of taxes. In addition, I worked with TRU educators to create an extensive training course that gave students the knowledge and skills they needed to file their personal tax returns with ease. This training not only improved funderstanding of Canadian Tax system, but it also provided participants with hands-on experiential learning.
I also built long-term partnerships with top accounting companies and financial institutions like as KPMG, MNP, H&R Block, CIBS and RBC, giving students access to professional experience, resources, and networking opportunities. These partnerships established opportunities for club members to compete for internships in accounting and finance, providing them with necessary hands-on experience and a competitive advantage in their future employment.
